The Bowlers opened up their season with a one-run defeat, as Harry Bowser scattered 9 hits on the mound for VFW.  Bryan Bailey blasted a two-run shot to give Mercer Bowl an early lead, Devin Corini doubled, Craig Songer singled twice, and Jim Kopan, Dave Bodien, Justin Songer Tim Murray, and Eric Bombeck added base hits.  Bailey and Kopan split pitching duties.  For VFW, Collins homered, Evakich tripled, Zuschlag doubled, and Yale singled twice.

MERCER BOWL 8  NOTRE DAME 3     5/23/10 @ Patagonia
Jim Kopan and Bryan Bailey combined to pitch a 7-hitter for the Bowlers. At the plate, Kopan and Tim Murray each tripled, while Chad McCombs and Devin Corini each singled twice.  Also adding hits were Bailey, Dave Bodien, Craig Songer, and Skinner Bombeck.  Pitcher Mark Conners doubled for Notre Dame.

OUR GANG'S 22  MERCER BOWL 10  (5 inn)  5/25/10 @ COG
Our Gang's opened its home schedule Tuesday night by earning the victory over visiting Mercer Bowl at COG. Our Gang's collectively pounded four home runs in the win, including a pair of round-trippers from Mike Cidila. Cidila also drove in six runs while Randy Clark and David Lander both homered for Our Gang's (1-1).  Geno Rossi doubled as part of a three-hit night while supporting winning pitcher Chuck Joseph.  Devin Corini homered for Mercer Bowl (1-2) and Craig Songer doubled and singled. Chad McCombs also doubled. Jim Kopan and Bryan Bailey both pitched for Mercer Bowl with Kopan taking the setback.

Pitcher Jim Kopan allowed 1 run on 4 hits, and contributed two singles on offense.  Also for Mercer Bowl, Craig Songer rapped three hits and Devin Corini tripled, while Justin Songer and Tim Murray each doubled.  Brian Bodien and Sean Murray singled, and Dave Bodien drew 3 walks.  John Tomko pitched for Legends.  Also, Willie Pletcher doubled and singled, and John Leetch doubled.

Tim Murray pitched a no-hitter, ending his perfect game bid with a one-out walk in the final inning. He had plenty of offensive support as Mercer Bowl opened with 14 runs in the bottom of the first.  Chad McCombs went 5-for-5 with a 3-run homer.  Devin Corini also homered and singled. Justin Songer added a round tripper, as Dave Bodien singled 4 times, Jim Kopan doubled and singled twice, Craig Songer and Skinner Bombeck each singled twice, Tim Murray doubled, and Sean Murray singled.

MERCER BOWL 22  NOTRE DAME 6 (5 inn.)      6/8/10 @ Notre Dame
Mercer Bowl improved to 4-2 as winning pitcher Bryan Bailey tripled and singled.  Chad McCombs completed a streak of 11 consecutive hits with 3 singles and 7 rbi.  Devin Corini also added three hits, and adding two singles each were Brian Bodien, Dave Bodien, Craig Songer, Justin Songer, and relief pitcher Tim Murray.  Jim Kopan singled and reached base 5 times, and Sean Murray added a base hit.  For Notre Dame, Jim Connors and John Guido each doubled and singled, Pat Connors, Chris Clark, and M. Somner each singled twice, T. Little doubled, and Mark Conners pitched.  Mercer Bowl has scored in 20 straight innings.

MERCER BOWL 12  CHICCARINO'S 2     6/10/10 @ COG
Mercer Bowl scored 10 runs in the 5th and 6th to break up a 2-2 tie.  Winning pitcher Bryan Bailey allowed one earned run in five innings and belted a triple.  Reliever Tim Murray tossed 2 scoreless innings, and added a double and single at the plate.  Craig Songer went 4-for-4, Skinner Bombeck chipped in three singles, Chad McCombs and Justin Songer both doubled and singled, Jim Kopan doubled, and Devin Corini singled for the Bowlers.  For Chiccarino's, Ryan Briggs pitched the complete game, and Darren Gensler contributed two hits.

Dave Bodien and Craig Songer led the Bowlers 17-hit attack, each with a triple and two singles, while Devin Corini doubled twice, Jon Murray stroked three singles, and Justin Songer tripled and singled.  Chad McCombs, Brian Bodien, and Skinner Bombeck singled.  Jim Kopan pitched the complete game and singled.  For VFW, Starting pitcher Nate Banick homered, Jason Evakich tripled and singled, Pat Connors Jr. tripled, and Corey Augustine doubled.  Harry Bowser pitched in relief.

MERCER BOWL 7  LEGEND'S 5     6/15/10  @ Patagonia
Host Mercer Bowl rallied from an early 4-0 deficit Tuesday night to pull out a 7-5 victory over upset-minded Legends/Belleria Pizza at Patagonia Senior.  Winning pitcher Bryan Bailey tripled as part of a three-hit night for Mercer Bowl while Sean Murray roped a season-high three hits. Justin Songer doubled and singled and Jon Murray rapped a pair of hits. Bailey pitched the first five innings while Kopan recorded the save by throwing two scoreless innings. Kopan struck out four.  John Leetch belted a three-run home run in the third to give Legends/Belleria a 4-0 lead. Jordan Benes doubled and singled while Lucas Guerrera doubled.  Phil Schneider fired a complete game for Legends.

SPLITZ 3  MERCER BOWL 2  (8 inn.)     6/20/10  @ St. Paul's
Splitz won the pitchers duel by tying the game 2-2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th and a run in the bottom of the 8th.  Pitcher Lynn Saternow allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits in 8 innings.  Corey Dancak and Tony Merillio each singled twice.  For Mercer Bowl, Devin Corini had a solo home run, Jim Kopan, Jon Murray, and Justin Songer each singled twice, and Brian Bodien and Chad McCombs added singles.  Kopan pitched the complete game, allowing 8 singles and 2 earned runs

Justin Songer hit a 2-run shot, Skinner Bombeck tripled and singled, Tim Murray and Chad McCombs both tripled, Bryan Bailey and Craig Songer both singled twice, and Devin Corini and Sean Murray added singles for Mercer Bowl.  Winning pitcher Jim Kopan scattered 7 hits.  For Splitz, Dustin Kulka connected for a 3-run homer, Devin Kulka doubled and singled, Alex Giroski doubled, and Bob Young pitched the complete game.

The Bowlers took command of the game by scoring eight runs in the third inning, breaking a 1-1 tie. Devin Corini paced Mercer Bowl by going 3 for 3 with a triple. Chad McCombs homered, singled and knocked in three runs while Jon Murray also went 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Bryan Bailey ripped a bases-clearing triple and Craig Songer doubled. Bailey pitched 4 1/3 innings to pick up the win. He allowed one run. Tim Murray pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and yielded one run. Greg Wise doubled and singled for Chiccarino's while Phil Ciprian and John Wise both singled twice. Ryan Briggs pitched six innings and took the defeat.

Mercer Bowl improved to 11-3 on the season and was led by Jim Kopan's two doubles, Chad McComb's double and two singles, and Craig Songer's double and single.  Stroking two singles each were Dave Bodien, Brian Bodien, and Devin Corini, and Skinner Bombeck, Jon Murray, Bryan Bailey, and Justin Songer singled once. Tim Murray pitched the complete game, allowing just 7 singles.  Jim Connors singled twice for Notre Dame, and Mark Connors pitched.

The Bowlers' 18-hit barrage was led by Devin Corini with a homer and double, Jon Murray's 3 singles, Dave Bodien with a triple, double, and 4 RBI, and Craig Songer's double and single.  Winning pitcher Bryan Bailey also contributed a triple and single.  Also slashing 2 hits each were Tim Murray, Sean Murray, and Jim Kopan, and Skinner Bombeck singled.  For Legend's, Willie Pletcher rapped a home run, John Leetch and Jason Sciarro each tripled, while Mike Sciarro and pitcher Phil Schneider both stroked 2 singles.

In the night-cap, winning pitcher Bryan Bailey allowed just 1 run on 2 singles, and blasted 2 home runs, a double, and single to lead Mercer Bowl to their 7th straight win and 14-3 season ledger.  Chad McCombs went 4-for-4, and lining 3 hits each were Dave Bodien and Skinner Bombeck. Justin Songer and Sean Murray both chipped in two hits, while Tim Murray and Craig Songer each singled.

Our Gang's came back from a 7-1 deficit to break Mercer Bowl's 43-game winning streak in regular season July contests.  Poog homered and singled twice, Ansell homered and singled, Sadowski doubled twice and singled, Williams doubled and singled, Kovac and winning pitcher Cidila each doubled, Rossi and Clark each singled twice, and Joseph pitched a scoreless inning in relief.  For Mercer Bowl, Brian Bodien and Tim Murray both homered and singled, pitcher Bryan Bailey singled twice and doubled, Chad McCombs tripled and singled, Devin Corini doubled and singled, and Jim Kopan singled twice and pitched a perfect 7th.  Jon Murray, Dave Bodien, and Skinner Bombeck also added singles.

The Bowlers took a 12-1 lead after 3 and held on for the win.  Leading hitters were starting pitcher Jim Kopan with a 2-run shot and 2 singles, and Justin Songer with a pair of 3-baggers and a single.  Also, Brian Bodien hit a 3-run blast, Tim Murray singled 3 times, and adding 2 hits each were Jon Murray, Craig Songer, and relief pitcher Bryan Bailey.  Skinner Bombeck and Chad McCombs singled.  Splitz was led by Fred Sloan's 3 singles, reliever Devin Kulka's double and single, and 2 hits each from Alex Giroski and Sim Harrison.  Lynn Saternow started on the mound.

The defending champs fell behind 2-1, but scored 5 in the top of the 5th to secure the season opening win.  Winning pitcher Jim Kopan pitched the complete game, striking out 6 and walking none, but gave up a solo shot and double to Dustin Kulka, 2 singles to opposing pitcher Devin Kulka, and 3 singles to Frank of Logan & Co.  Mercer Bowl's offense was sparked by Jon Murray's double and single and Brian Bodien's 2 singles.  Kopan, Dave Bodien, Chad McCombs, and Justin Songer doubled; Craig Songer tripled; Sean Murray singled; and Bryan Bailey added a Sac. Fly.

The bowlers broke open a close game with 7 runs in the 6th, improving to 2-0 on the season.  Brian Bodien, with a single, double, and triple, and Brian Bailey's double and two singles led the offense.  Also, Devin Corini cracked a three-run shot, and Dave Bodien and Billy Schumaker stroked two singles each.  Eric Bombeck, Sean Murray, and Mike Snyderwine each singled and Jon Murray had 3 walks and 2 runs.  Winning pitcher Jim Kopan struck out 5 and hit a three-run homer.  Tim Murray pitched a scoreless 7th in relief, walked twice, and scored twice.  For Double D, Ference doubled and singled twice, Mattes and Sponsler both doubled and singled, and Tallman doubled.

Host Chiccarino's assembled a six-run second inning Tuesday night en route to a 13-1 win over Mercer Bowl in five innings at COG.  Jared Terlecky homered to pace the Chiccarino's offense while Randy McConnell tripled and singled. Keith Regula doubled and scored two runs while John Wise singled twice and added a sacrifice fly.  Winning pitcher Ryan Briggs allowed six hits in five innings. He struck out one.  Starting pitcher Jim Kopan whiffed two and walked four, plus doubled and singled at the plate for Mercer Bowl, while Jon Murray added two singles.  Skinner Bombeck and Craig Songer singled, and Bryan Bailey pitched the final inning in relief.

Mercer Bowl improved to 3-1 with a 6-run 6th inning, which erased a 3-2 deficit.  Pitcher Jim Kopan scattered 7 hits, with 4 K's and no free passes.  On offense, Jon Murray tripled and singled, and Dave Bodien singled twice.  For VFW, Dustin Norcross homered and singled twice, and Denny Yale singled three times, and Harry Bowser pitched.

MERCER BOWL 14  JERGLER INVESTMENTS 13    at Patagonia Sr.  6/4/09 
Trailing 13-9 in the bottom of the 7th, Chad McCombs ripped a game-tying grand slam and Craig Songer singled in the winning run with two outs for Mercer Bowl, in a game featuring six lead changes.  McCombs also doubled twice, singled, scored three runs, and finished with 7 RBI.  Songer earlier stroked a game-tying double.  Other leaders at the plate were Mike Snyderwine and Dave Bodien each with two singles, Devin Corini with a double and single, Justin Songer with a 2-run triple, and Andy Finzel with a two-bagger.  Jim Kopan pitched and scored three runs.  For Jergler's, pitcher Dave Tomko hit a two run shot and single, Tyler Watts homered and tripled, David Haynes doubled and singled, and Jason Sciarro doubled.  Also, Zack Detal, Willie Pletcher, and John Tomko each singled twice.

Our Gang's led wire to wire as Clint Ansell tripled, singled, and doubled twice, Dean Vadala homered and singled, Dave Lander and George Kovac each doubled and singled twice, and Gino Rossi and Eli Deflin each had two singles to back the pitching of Mike Cidila.  Kovac had a diving catch at the center field fence.  For Mercer Bowl, Brian Bodien blasted a home run, Chad McCombs doubled twice and singled, and Sean Murray and pitcher Jim Kopan each singled twice.  Tim Murray and Craig Songer each singled, and Devin Corini had a 2-run sacrifice fly.

The bowlers jumped out to a 6-0 first inning lead, and after Chiccarino's pulled within one run, again scored 6 in the bottom of the fifth to secure the win.  Winning pitcher Bryan Bailey helped his cause at the plate with a double and triple.  Devin Corini led the offensive attack with a triple, double, and two singles.  Chad McCombs and John Murray each doubled and singled twice, and McCombs tallied 4 runs.  Also for Mercer Bowl, which improved to 5-2 on the season, Brian Bodien doubled and singled, Tim Murray doubled, and Jim Kopan, Skinner Bombeck, Craig Songer, Sean Murray, and Mike Snyderwine each singled.  For Chiccarino's, Ben Mackle and Larry McConnell each stroked two singles, Seth Terlecky, Phil Ciprian, and Randy McConnell tripled, and Ryan Briggs pitched.

In a mid-season showdown for second place, Bryan Bailey pitched a four-hitter with two strikeouts and belted a home run to lead the victors in a defensive battle.  Trailing 3-0, Logan & Co. tied the game with 3 runs in the top of the 5th, but Mercer Bowl reclaimed the lead with solo shots from Brian Bodien in the bottom of the inning, and Chad McCombs in the 6th.  Devin Corini contributed two singles, and McCombs, Bailey, and Dave Bodien also singled.  Pitcher Bob Young had a strong outing for Logan & Co.

Winning pitcher Nate Banick tossed a five hitter and hit a three-run homer to lead Notre Dame.  Mark Connors hit a three-run shot and two singles, while Rudy Banick, Jimmy Connors, and Michaels each singled twice for the victors, who were sparked by an 8-run fourth inning.  Jim Kopan and Bryan Bailey pitched for Mercer Bowl, and Chad McCombs doubled.

Tim Murray hurled a one-hit shutout in his first career start, allowing just a 5th inning single to Joe Bello, and three walks.  Hitting leaders for Mercer Bowl were Dave Bodien with a triple, double, single, and 3 RBI, Jim Kopan with a double and single, Jon Murray with a double, and Skinner Bombeck and Devin Corini with two singles each.  Also, Craig Songer and Marty Bour had base hits.  Lindsey Mizkko pitched for Double D.

Trailing 7-0 in the 4th, Our Gang's plated the last 8 runs for the win.  Clint Ansell sparked the offense with a home run and single. Adding two singles each were Steve Feigert, Dave Lander, Gino Rossi, and Frank Tamber.  Chuck Joseph pitched the complete game.  For Mercer Bowl, Tim Murray doubled and singled, Chad McCombs tripled, and Craig Songer and losing pitcher Jim Kopan each had two singles.  Jon Murray, Brian Bailey, Devin Corini, and Justin Songer also singled.

Jim Kopan pitched the final five innings in relief of Bryan Bailey (injured), allowing no earned runs, striking out three, and walking none.  Kopan also homered and singled at the plate.  Skinner Bombeck added a home run, Jon Murray and Tim Murray each doubled and singled, Chad McCombs and Craig Songer each tripled and singled, Mike Snyderwine singled twice, Sean Murray and Bryan Bailey singled, and Justin Songer doubled and made a spectacular diving catch for the bowlers, who improved to 8-4 on the season.  For VFW, each singling twice was Shawn Matsko and Todd Davis, while Todd Rearick and Tyler Allen doubled.  Harry Bowser pitched the complete game.

Tim Murray scattered 5 singles and 2 walks in pitching his second straight complete game shutout.  Jim Kopan's triple, double, and single, and Sean Murray's two doubles and single led the Mercer Bowl offense.  Justin Songer doubled twice, Dave Bodien and Craig Songer both doubled and singled, and Chad McCombs doubled.  Adding two singles each were Devin Corini, Brian Bodien, Marty Bour, and Mike Snyderwine.  Jon Murray and Skinner Bombeck each singled.  Lindsey Mizicko and Chuck Fizet pitched for Double D.

Craig Songer paced the offense with a Grand Slam and two singles as the bowlers jumped to a 10-3 lead after two innings.  Also, Devin Corini blasted a 3-run shot and doubled.  Adding two singles each were Mike Snyderwine and Dave Bodien, while Jim Kopan and Justin Songer doubled, and Brian Bodien tripled.  Skinner Bombeck singled and John Murray collected 3 base on balls.  Bryan Bailey was the winning pitcher with relief from Tim Murray.  For Jergler's, Jeff Gavin homered, doubled, and singled, while Jason Sciarro doubled and singled twice, Evan Anzio doubled twice and singled, Tyler Watts doubled twice, and John Leetch doubled.  John Tomko pitched the complete game.

Jim Kopan pitched the complete game shutout with 3 K's and no walks,and belted a 3-run shot and single with 5 RBI.  Chad McCombs added a 2-run homer and single.  Mercer Bowl improved to 11-4, aided by 7 runs in the 5th inning.  Contributing to the attack were Craig Songer with a triple and single, Tim Murray with a double and single, Marty Bour with two singles, Brian Bodien and Dave Bodien each with as single, and three walks each for Jon Murray and Skinner Bombeck.  Eight different players each had one single for Chiccarino's, and Ryan Briggs pitched.

The victors, who broke a 1-1 tie with a 7-run second inning, were led at the plate by Craig Songer with a home run, and Sean Murray with three singles.  Also, Tim Murray doubled and singled, Skinner Bombeck singled twice, Justin Songer doubled, Jim Kopan and Mike Snyderwine each singled, and Chad McCombs singled and added two sacrifice flies.  Kopan pitched all seven innings, striking out three.  Bob Young, Dustin Kulka, and Lynn Saternow all pitched for Logan & Co., and hitting leaders were Kulka with a double and single, Alex Giroski and Fred Sloan each with two singles, and Corey Dancak with a double.

MERCER BOWL 16  JERGLER INVESTMENTS 5     at Patagonia Sr.  7/26/09
The bowlers won the opening game of the first round best-of-3 playoff series, breaking open a 2-2 tie with 7 runs in the bottom of the second.  Complete game hurler Jim Kopan allowed 3 earned runs, 7 hits, and a walk.  Leading the 19-hit attack was Chad McComb's 4-for-4, including a triple and double.  Marty Bour rapped 3 singles, Tim Murray tripled and singled, Kopan and Dave Bodien each doubled and singled, Skinner Bombeck added two singles, Jon Murray doubled, and Brian Bodien and Devin Corini singled.  For Jergler's, A.J. Staul roped a triple and single, while Jeff Gavin and Jason Sciarro doubled, and Dave Tomko pitched.

Mercer Bowl (14-4) will advance to the semis after winning the series two games to none.  Winner Bryan Bailey pitched 4 innings, and Tim Murray closed out the game with a scoreless 5th.  The bowlers struck with a 13-0 lead, and were paced by Jim Kopan's 4-for-4 with two doubles and a triple.  Also, Dave Bodien tripled and singled twice, Bailey and Devin Corini tripled and singled, Justin Songer tripled and doubled, Craig Songer doubled and singled, and Brian Bodien singled twice.  Each adding a single were Tim and Sean Murray, Skinner Bombeck, and Mike Snyderwine.  Dave Tomko pitched for Jergler's. At the plate, Casey Pagliarini tripled and doubled, Jeff Gavin tripled and singled, John Tomko and Willie Pletcher singled twice, John Leetch doubled.  Mercer Bowl has won 7 in a row while averaging 17 runs, and allowing just over 4 runs per game.

Mercer Bowl won the semifinal series opener, scoring every inning, including 5 in the 5th to take an 8 run lead.  Jim Kopan singled twice and pitched the complete game.  Also, Devin Corini doubled and singled, Dave Bodien tripled, and Craig Songer singled, while Jon Murray and Tim Murray added doubles.  For Notre Dame, pitcher Pat Connors Jr. had three singles and Chris Clark stroked a homer and single.  Contributing a pair of singles each were Rudy Banick, Pat Conners Sr., and Jesse Polite.  Game two of the best-of-three series is Thursday 6:30pm at Notre Dame.

Mercer Bowl (16-4) has advanced to it's 11th straight championship series behind the no-hit pitching of Jim Kopan, and bat of Justin Songer, who broke open a 2-0 game with his three-run shot in the top of the 4th.  Kopan allowed no hits and no walks in seven innings, and two baserunners on errors, for the first no-hitter in the playoffs in 18 years.  Dave Bodien roped two triples, along with Devin Corini's pair of doubles.  Craig Songer singled twice, and adding doubles were Chad McCombs and Tim Murray.  Brian Bodien, Mike Snyderwine, and Kopan singled.  For Notre Dame, Mark Connors pitched the complete game.  Defending champion Mercer Bowl, winners of nine straight, is awaiting the winner of the Our Gang's / Sharon VFW series..

MERCER BOWL 11  OUR GANG'S 3     at Patagonia Sr. 8/11/09
Brian Bailey pitched a gem for the bowlers in the opening game of the Shenango Valley Modified League championship series.  Bailey scattered six hits and three walks in the complete game victory, and contributed two hits for the offense, which scored multiple runs in every inning except the sixth.  Chad McComb's (2-for-2) RBI double in the bottom of the first stanza gave Mercer Bowl a 2-1 lead, and a Tim Murray two-run round-tripper made it 4-1 after two.  In the fourth, a single by Justin Songer, who doubled earlier, and a Devin Corini triple increased the margin to 9-1.  Also singling were Jon Murray, Brian Bodien, Jim Kopan, and Craig Songer.  For Our Gang's, Mike Cidila pitched the complete game, and Geno Rossi slashed two singles.  These two teams are meeting for the fifth straight year in the finals, with each team winning two series.

Mercer Bowl took a two games to none lead in the best-of-five championship series, as Jim Kopan pitched a four-hitter, allowing no walks and no earned runs.  Long rallies in the first, third, and fifth innings were sparked by Brian Bodien's 3-for-3, 3 run performance, and Dave Bodien's double, single, and 3 RBI.  Kopan added two singles, Brian Bailey and Devin Corini each tripled, and Jon Murray scored 3 times.  Chad McCombs, Marty Bour, and Skinner Bombeck each singled.  Geno Rossi doubled for Our Gang's, while Chuck Joseph and Mike Cidila pitched.

OUR GANG'S 10  MERCER BOWL 7     at COG  8/16/09
Chuck Joseph pitched a 5-hitter for Our Gang's, who jumped out to a 7-1 lead and withheld a late Mercer Bowl comeback.  Clint Ansel homered, Randy clark tripled and singled, and Gino Rossi and Dave Lander each singled twice.  For Mercer Bowl, who leads the series 2-1, Brian Bodien tripled. Bryan Bailey, Chad McCombs, Dave Bodien, and Craig Songer each added singles and Jim Kopan pitched.

Mercer Bowl (19-5) clinched the championship with the win, 3 games to 1.  It marked the third straight title for the team, the 8th since 1999, and 21st overall.  Jon Murray rapped a homer and two singles, while Chad McCombs and Skinner Bombeck each singled twice.  Tim Murray doubled to support winning pitcher Bryan Bailey, and Justin Songer, Sean Murray, Dave Bodien, and Bailey each singled.  For Our Gang's, Dave Lander and Mike Bochert each had 2 singles, Steve Fiegert doubled, and Chuck Joseph pitched.

MERCER BOWL 6  NOTRE DAME 5     at Patagonia Sr. 8/12/08
     Shenango Valley Modified League defending champion Mercer Bowl pulled out and exciting, come-from-behind 6-5 victory in the deciding 3rd game of the semifinal series against Notre Dame.  Trailing 5-4 entering the bottom of the 7th, Devin Corini tied the contest with a 1-out solo blast, then Jon Murray doubled and socred the winning run on Tim Murray's 2-out single.  The Bowlers struck early on a triple from Brian Bodien, who scored on a fielder's choice, but in the top of the 5th, the Connors brothers staked Notre Dame to a 3-1 edge, with Jim and Mark doubling, followed by Pat Jr.'s home run.  The teams exchanged 2 runs in the 6th, sparked by Nate Banick's double for ND and Randy Clark's triple for Mercer Bowl.  Both pitchers went the distance, with winner Jim Kopan allowing 9 hits and Pat Conners Jr. scattering 10.
     Notre Dame won the best-of-3 series opener 23-9 and Mercer Bowl answered in game 2 with a 21-8 win.  Mercer Bowl is appearing in its 10th straight league championship series, facing Our Gang's Lounge for the 4th time in a row.

MERCER BOWL 12  OUR GANG'S 10     at COG
Mercer Bowl was staked a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 championship series, powered by Chad McComb's 3-run homer in the top of the 7th, erasing a 10-9 Our Gang's lead.  Our Gang's stroked 5 home runs throughout the game, including 3 from Gino Rossi, and one each from Mike Cidila and Dave Lander.  Jason Evakich, who doubled and singled twice, game Our Gang's its final lead in the bottom of the 6th by scoring on a wild pitch.  For the Bowlers, Devin Corini hit 2 singles then a game tying leadoff homer in the 6th.  McCombs also added a double, Dave Bodien tripled, Jon Murray singled twice, Tim Murray tripled, and Jim Kopan pitched the complete game.  Cidila and Chad Clark also added 2 singles and Chuck Joseph pitched for Our Gang's.
 
MERCER BOWL 18  OUR GANG'S 17     at Patagonia Sr.
The defending league champs fell behind 11-0, but battled back to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.  Mercer Bowl built a 15-12 lead after 4 innings, but Our Gang's tied it at 17 in the top of the 7th.  In the bottom of the inning, Brian Bodien's second single of the game drove in Tim Murray with the winning run.  Dave Bodien led the Bowlers' comeback with a single, double, and triple.  Also, Skinner Bombeck and starting pitcher Bryan Bailey each tripled and singled, and Jim Kopan pitched the final inning in relief, allowing 1 run.  Our Gang's was led by Ray Sadowski's 2 doubles and 2 singles.  Clint Ansell homered and doubled, Mike Bochert doubled and singled twice, John Tomko tripled twice, starting pitcher Jason Evakich doubled and singled, and Dave Lander, Mike Cidila, and Gino Rossi each doubled.  Chuck Joseph allowed 1 run in 2-plus innings of relief.
 
OUR GANG'S 4  MERCER BOWL 2     at COG
The Gang stayed alive with a 4-2 triumph.  It was a defensive pitcher's duel between Chuck Joseph, scattering 6 hits, and Jim Kopan, allowing 4 singles.  Leading 1-0 on Mike Bochert's single, Our Gang's added 3 more in the 4th on singles by Steve Fiegert, Gino Rossi, Dave Lander, and an error.  A 6th inning Mercer Bowl rally, with singles by Devin Corini and Jon Murray, followed by a 2-run triple from Randy Clark, came up short.  Bryan Bailey also doubled and singled for Mercer Bowl.
 
MERCER BOWL 17  OUR GANG'S 16  (8 inn.)     at Patagonia Sr.
Mercer Bowl defended its Shenango Valley Modified League crown, defeating Our Gang's 3-1 in a best-of-5 playoff series.  In the final game, the Bowlers had another thrilling come-from-behind triumph, 17-16 in 8 inning.  All 3 victories came in their last at-bat.  Our Gang's scratched back from a 9-5 deficit after 2 frames to take a 11-10 lead in the top of the 7th.  Mercer Bowl answered with 1 run to send it to an extra stanza, aided by Chad McComb's second single of the game.  He later scored on a Dave Bodien fly to left.  In the top of the 8th Our Gang's appeared to put the game away with 5 runs, but Mercer Bowl scored 6 in the bottom of the inning.  Still trailing 16-14 with 1 out, McCombs drove in 3 runs with a game-ending, bases loaded triple.  Leading Our Gang's were Steve Feigert, Corey Trott, and Gino Rossi each with a double and single; Mike Cidila and Ray Sadowski with 2 doubles each, and John Tomko with 2 singles.  Chuck Joseph pitched the complete game.  Mercer Bowl's Skinner Bombeck Marty Bour, Justin Songer, Brian Bailey, and Jon Murray each ripped 2 hits in support of pitcher Harry Bowser.  It is their 2nd straight league championship and 6th in the past 8 years.  Other team members are manager and sponsor Jim Kopan, Brian Bodien, Craig Songer, Devin Corini, Tim Murray, Randy Clark, and Kevin Anderson.
